关系副词出现在 "名词" 之后，

主要有 where、when、why 三种，

关系副词前面的名词，称为"先行词" 。

在关系副词的后面带出一个说明前方先行词的 "形容词从句" ，

因此，关系副词扮演着 "副词" 和 "连接词" 的角色。

而形容词从句也可以称为 "关系从句" ，

关系/ 形容词从句是一个语意完整的句子。

Where 表示 "地点" 

where = in / at / from + which

where 后方的关系从句传达更多关于先行词的信息。

【例句】

This awesome coffee shop is where I first met my boyfriend.

=This awesome coffee shop is in which I first met my boyfriend.

这间很棒的咖啡厅是我第一次遇到我男朋友的地方。

When 表示 "时间" 

when = in / at / on + which

【例句】

I remember the day when I left my hometown.

=I remember the day on which I left my hometown.

我记得我离开家乡的那一天。

Why 表示 "原因、理由" 

why = for + which

表原因的关系从句中，先行词是 reason 。

【例句】

John is an aggressive person, and that is the reason why I hate him.

=John is an aggressive person, and that is the reason for which I hate him.

=John is and aggressive person, and that is why I hate him.

John 是个好斗、挑衅的人，那是我讨厌他的原因。

*the reason 可以省略。
